Does anyone know if the priest can ad lib at the consecration or change anything? I was disturbed today at the Consecration (newly ordained priest) when he twice said…as He broke the bread and gave it to His “friends” …not disciples as is always said…is this okay? Or am I just being too picky? This priest always addressed us as “sisters and brothers” instead of "brothers and sisters"which I have oft heard before but just wondered if this is the clue that he is trying to be politically correct? Is “friends” suppose to be the gender neitral term for “disciples”? I would like to complain to the Bishop but I don’t know if it is incorrect actually. What say ye???
