On the eve of the first presidential debate, the conservative website The Daily Caller Tuesday circulated previously unreported clips of a five-year-old speech in which then-Senator Barack Obama praised his controversial former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and suggested the federal government discriminated against the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

“I’ve got to give a special shout-out to my pastor. The guy who puts up with me. Counsels me. Listens to my wife complain about me. He’s a friend. And a great leader,” the president said of Wright in an address to the Hampton University Annual Ministers’ Conference in Hampton, Va., in June 2007 in video posted by The Daily Caller and first aired on Fox News.

ABC News ran that clip in a March 2008 piece on “World News Tonight with Charles Gibson.” At the time, prepared remarks of Obama’s speech were released by the campaign and a local newspaper posted a nine-minute edited video of the address. What ABC News and many others, including The Daily Caller founder Tucker Carlson, covered at the time was based on that edited video and the prepared remarks.

Wait…you mean the guy who has been race-baiting for the past four years as President and playing the race card at every possible opportunity…is really a racist? Shut the front door!

I’m more interested in what the Hispanic population is thinking about Univision’s Fast and Furious exposé. The overall picture presented in the past few weeks of this president and the results of his policies has not been a pretty one. I wonder how long the mainstream media can continue covering for this idiot?

Its difficult to explain why so many people, primarily black, were abandoned and left to languish in New Orleans while the government took its sweet time providing relief. Its hard to believe that the State is just that incompetent and it wouldn’t be surprising if racism played some role however small. It was certainly shocking that the President seemed to play it off like nothing was happening and it was no big deal. Yucking it up on a tarmac with John McCain and eating birthday cake while thousands are suffering and dying is hardly the reaction I’d expect from a President.

It is supremely ironic that if I criticize Obama, I’d be called a racist by his more rabid supporters and yet the person they so rabidly support appears to be a racist himself.

There’s no mystery at all…the reason so many languished is because thelocal and state government failed to take appropriate measures to do anything at all. It takes a while to get federal assets in place…and the local and state government HAMPERED the efforts.
The reason they were primarily black is because of the demographic makeup of NOLA… No racism was involved at the federal level…

Kind of like a president who rushes off to a fundraiser in Las Vegas after the terrorist organization he claimed to have defeated attacks our embassy and kills the ambassador…

Of course, at the time, he lied to the country and said it was just spontaneous riots…on 9/11…

They’re not at all similar. There wasn’t really anyone to rescue and at least a fundraiser is more Presidential than making a buffoon out of ones self on a tarmac while thousands of Americans are suffering and dying and at least Obama didn’t appoint a glorified horse breeder with zero credentials as Director of FEMA.

Rushing off to a fundraiser in Vegas, going on Letterman and then hooking up with JayZ and Beyonce’ instead of meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu as the threat of war with Iran looms…not presidential at all. And if a Republican did that we’d be hearing about it nonstop from liberals. These videos that are coming out show Obama to be the radical he is. Obama has deliberately mislead who he really is. He ran as a “unifier” canidate who would go beyond red state and blue state… etc. What a crock that was. Now it is up to America to throw his anti-Catholic, anti-American presidency onto the ash heap of history where it belongs.

What makes you think the government was slow? Do you have any idea how long it took them to come in after Andrew? Why are you only concerned with black people in New Orleans and not those in Biloxi? Were is your outrage that Bill Clinton took 2 weeks to help poor white/black/cuban/mexican people in south Florida after Andrew? Do you realize that you are bigoted?

On the video itself it will be fun watching the left have apoplectic rage over this story over the next few days.

So an attack on the United States isn’t serious…a dead ambassador and three staffers is unimportant? A fund raiser is more important? The criticism is NOT that he went to a fund raiser, it’s that the fund raisers are more important than meeting with allies like Netanyahu…Perhaps if Obama had actually attended his intelligence briefings. So now, instead of a president acting as a buffoon on a tarmac we have one who is window dressing on The View…and rather than someone clueless at FEMA we have someone clueless in the Justice Department.

The President of the United States is not at the beckon call of Benjamin Netanyahu. If he wants to meet the President then he can make an appointment like everyone else. I think the US had made its position quite clear on the issue of Iran by that point anyway. The answer to his war mongering was NO so there was/is nothing left to discuss.
These videos that are coming out…
I don’t see the point in dredging up videos from years ago. His opinions about Katrina have no relevance to anything at all.

LOL. If you want to meet with the president and you’re the president of Israel…get in line behind…Beyonce and JayZ and David Letterman! What a joke.

No, don’t dredge up the videos from the past - nothing to see hear, move along - don’t want people to figure out how radical Obama really is. But let’s dredge up a video from a Romney fundraiser from last spring and make it the headline for a week.

On the contrary…it shows that he uses race to his advantage…my personal opinon is he is racist…it shows how divisive he really is…it shows that he’s quite the radical with his views on redistribution have not changed. It’s not Netanyahu that is the war mongerer…it’s the Iranians. Obama’s snubbing of Netanyahu encourages the enemies of Israel…they now have the opinion that the US no longer has Israel’s back…making war that much more likely.

Israel is the only stable democracy (and one of the few stable governments) in the region…you might think Obama would want to send a message to the radicals in the middle east that an attack against Israel is a bad idea.

This is true

Actually it doesn’t work like that between heads of state of nations who are allies. They are suppose to more or less equals.

I’m not sure if this statement is made out of fear that the video will hurt President Obama or not. But the issue of how President Obama sees the citizens of the US and if he sees the citizens in warring camps, and sees himself as belinging to one of the camps against the other is certainly a pertinent issue in an election year.

FYI…Bush isn’t running against Obama in this election. In fact, he’s been out of office for 4 years…just in case you have trouble keeping up with the news.

You can vote for your failed leader again, though. No worries.

You can’t just show up in New York and expect the President to pop into your hotel room. I’d think the reasons for that would be quite obvious. If he has a diplomatic bone to pick then he can do what every other head-of-state does; talk to our ambassador.

The Romney video is extraordinarily significant; an old video about Katrina in which Obama hints that there were some racist elements in the government back in 2005 is not.

Precisely; so why bring this video up at all?

That’s true - the president is a busy man, what with meeting with Beyonce and JayZ and all on the agenda in a time of a foreign policy crisis…

Praising the radical America hater Rev. Wright and then running away from that in the 2008 election? I don’t think that’s insignificant. The videos are showing Obama to be the radical redistributionist that he is. Dinesh D’Souza got it right - Obama is an anti-colonialist who truly wants to reshape America into something very different.

He didn’t just show up in New York. Both Obama’s and Bibi’s trips were planned weeks in advance. Obama was making a statement by not meeting with Bibi which was not lost on the Israeli.
