I have recently discovered a group called “St. Paul’s Outreach” that has been endorsed and supported by my Bishop in the Diocese of Las Vegas. Here is their temporary web page:

stpaulsoutreach.friendpages.com

Everything about the group is very orthodox with one notable exception…CHASTITY! They are very active in promoting the gay lifestyle within the church through regular meetings (at the Cathedral) and promotion. The director of this group is a lay assistant to the Bishop and they are very close. Also supporting this group is Vocations Director of the Diocese and the Rector of the Cathedral.

Several of us are attempting to approach this with love and understanding, attempting to push the members of this group to programs like COURAGE which are wonderful. However, with the Bishop endorsing this, many feel they are justified.

Any suggestions!

Peace in Christ!

I’ve been wondering when someone might respond. Finally, I thought I’d at least respond, even though I feel I don’t have much to offer.

I also get discouraged and upset sometimes when I see a Bishop acting in a way that – at least in my opinion – is contrary to the Faith. At those times, I really only have two options:
  1. *]Prayer for the Bishop and for the Church
*]To remember it is the Holy Spirit in charge, not me. His ways are a mystery.

Pray the rosary…and go up the chain of command with letters.

Pope John Paul II (June 4, 2004):

“Rights are at times reduced to self-centered demands: the growth of prostitution and pornography in the name of adult choice, the acceptance of abortion in the name of women’s rights, the approval of same sex unions in the name of homosexual rights…”

“In the face of such erroneous yet pervasive thinking, U.S. Bishops should stress to congregations their special responsibility for evangelizing culture and promoting Christian values in society and public life.”

Tertullian:
“[A]ll other frenzies of the lusts which exceed the laws of nature, and are impious toward both [human] bodies and the sexes, we banish, not only from the threshold but also from all shelter of the Church, for they are not sins so much as monstrosities.” (Modesty 4 [A.D. 220]).

Eusebius of Caesarea:
“[H]aving forbidden all unlawful marriage, and all unseemly practice, and the union of women with women and men with men, he [God] adds: `Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for in all these things the nations were defiled, which I will drive out before you. And the land was polluted, and I have recompensed [their] iniquity upon it, and the land is grieved with them that dwell upon it.’ [Lev. 18:24-25]” (Proof of the Gospel 4:10 [A.D. 319]).

Basil the Great:
“He who is guilty of unseemliness with males will be under discipline for the same time as adulterers.” (Letters 217:62 [A.D. 367]).

Augustine:
“[T]hose shameful acts against nature, such as were committed in Sodom, ought everywhere and always to be detested and punished. If all nations were to do such things, they would be held guilty of the same crime by the law of God, which has not made men so that they should use one another in this way” (Confessions 3:8:15 [A.D. 400]).

The web page link does not work for me at this time so I can not view it, however if it is as you say I truly believe that you must stand up and say something to the Bishop, and if he does not listen then take it up the ladder. Please do not wait if all you say is true they are harming themselves by reciveing the Lord and having discussions like this in the Church.

I will be praying for you.

Thank you all for your (name removed by moderator)ut…I will fight the good fight, both with prayer and the pen.

This is another link for those that wouldn’t work:

What concerns me greatly is the head of this organization is now head of Liturgical Ministries at the Cathedral. That means he coordinates and directs altar servers. To add to that concern; the original link I posted stated that it was about to be deleted due to the fact it was owned by someone less than 18 years old.

I know what I am thinking is not PC, but with the scandal still looming I think we’ve put the fox in with the chickens…so to speak.

Thank you for your prayers!

God bless!

Personally, I am not longer interested in PC. I appreciate people being straightforward. Your concerns do not appear farfetched.

When were the foxes taken out of the chicken coop?

How sad…the Bishop has a lot to answer for if he is misleading people in this area. Is there a possibility that the Bishop is gay himself. We had an archbishop that was a poor leader in our diocese, and come to find out he was gay. It came out publicly. He has since publically confessed, but so much has been lost and misguided by his poor leadership.

Keep giving info. to the gay group and to your Bishop. Pray and put it into the hands of Mother Mary, who is so pure.

People need to be real careful with different pseudo-Catholic “gay” support groups that are springing up throughout the country.

The only support group that is for people with a Same-Sex attraction that is approved by the Vatican because they abide by the church’s teachings is Courage.

Information on Courage can be found at:
couragerc.org

Courage is for members of the Catholic faith that deal with varying degress of a same-sex attraction and want to abide by the teachings of the church, including chastity.

Encourage is a courage organization for support of parents and other relatives of people that are either in Courage or parents of people in the “gay” lifestyle.
