I am a Godmother to a child who resides in Europe (I am in the US) and am struggling as to how to fulfill my duties as a “good Godmother”, even if I am so far away. She is now a teenager…any thoughts? Thanks and God Bless!

Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest impression. Consider writing a letter to her on anniversaries of her milestones in the Church, like the day of her Baptism/First Reconciliation/First Communion/Confirmation. Also perhaps on her Saint’s day. If you can, relate how those days, and what they represent, can should influence her life.

Pray for her

Write to her, and include Holy pictures, or a prayer you have written her, or some article that is happening in your town or church.

Ring her on her Feast day if she has the name of a saint.

Email her with thoughts on God

See if she can use this forum, if she has a computer.

Be interested in her life, letting her know you are a phone call or letter away from getting advice.

Save and get her over to you for a holiday if you can, or you go there.

Love Kellie

Staying in touch by Email, letters or cards. Teens are interested in their faith just not in public. So don’t have a Mass said for her on her birthday or send a 4 foot statue of her patron saint, 4 inches or less would be Ok.

Those are all great ways to share our faith and keep in touch from so far away…thank you for all of your suggestions! 🙂
