So, a quick update on my ex bringing me back for more child support.

I handed in my financial stuff last Friday and that day I guess the lawyer filed a motion for the judge to sign for us to go through mediation.

There are two things that could have caused that. The first being it is in our divorce decree that we are to in good faith try to talk it out first. Failing that, we go to mediation. If that fails, then we go to a lawyer. She did not do that and instead went straight to a lawyer. Second, the lawyer realizes that I truly do not have the substantial change in circumstances that my ex says that I do. When it is said and done, my net is less than hers. The judge may have told her that she would be better off going through mediation as there she will probably get something from me. The court might just dismiss the case as the change in child support is not more than $50 or 15% which ever is greater.

My ex did ask for my forgiveness for doing this. All, I said to her was that she should have come to me first. She also thought I had a lawyer and was surprised to find out that I do not and have been doing this on my own.

All, I did was stick to the facts, pointed out what was wrong in her claims and backed it up with the truth in writing.

Now I am waiting on getting the notice that the judge signed the motion and ordered mediation.

This sounds like good news. Often, judges will routinely refer cases to mediation so as to not tie up the courts with “small” matters.
