Where does the maxim " God allows Evil so a greater good can come out of it" come from . I am just intrigued about its origins.

The greatest Evil in history was the crucifixation of Jesus but the greatest Good came out of it. He died for our sins and offered us the chance for everlasting life with him in Heaven if we follow his teachings.

Thank you ,but I was wondering where the maxim came from . I am guessing it was some theologian

It kind of reminds me of St. Paul’s words:
28We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

I think this is the one…

ROM 5:20 Now the law entered in, that sin might abound. And where sin abounded, grace did more abound. ROM 5:21 That as sin hath reigned to death; so also grace might reign by justice unto life everlasting, through Jesus Christ our Lord. (DRV)

Peace

John

St. Augustine wrote in chap. 11 of his Enchiridion:

God, since He is the highest good, would in no way allow any evil in His works unless He were so omnipotent and so good that He could turn evil to good.

That article also gives the background that led him up to saying that.
