I don’t know if this is the correct place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone has made a Mary garden. I finished mine about a month ago and its really growing nicely.
I had been looking for a Mary statue and had been unable to find one. My husband and I had to go to Houston and took a wrong turn and saw a nursery that just happened to have just the statue I had been looking for. Not only that but it was regularly 400.00 and was on sale for 140.00. I had praying the rosary daily and I believe our Mother led us there.

Yes, I have a Mary garden. I have had one for many years…four different houses and I always have a Mary Garden. We moved last fall and I put in a Mary garden in our new home also this spring. Father blessed it last month and it is looking so beautiful. It would not be home without it.

I got a new statue this year and like you it was pure chance I found it. My old statue is beautiful but I have so much more yard I needed another one. The Guadalupe statue I found for our last home and she resides in the front garden here. I really wanted a statue of Our Lady of Grace for the back terraced garden and wala…I found her at a nursery just down the road. She fits perfectly in the niche overlooking the valley and the terrace nestled under the trees. Already the archway which shelters her is filling in with the clematis vines and looks as though God designed the niche just for her.

Like you, Our Lady lead us to this sight. How wonderful it is when we trust God and He leads us through His mother.

It really is true. So many people I know don’t understand when I explain that She really does lead me in this and many other things I have prayed to her through the rosary for.
Do you have pictures of yours? Mine is really blooming now but has a little way to go to really fill in. I’m thinking of adding a small pond next year

Oh heavens yes

My first Mary Garden is my Herb Garden. I am in the process of planning a second larger one on the side of my house with a small water feature and some roses and Lilacs. I started the lilacs two years ago in preparation. Do a Goggle search there are several absolutely wonderful Mary garden sites online.

peace be with you! interesting that you bring this up…my youth group just planted a Mary garden at our parish on Saturday. it is not even close to complete yet but it sounds like a great idea.

In my area, a lot of people have a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in a bathtub.

I just could never quite get my arms around that.

I took pictures about 6 weeks ago. It is prettier now of course as that was earlier after I finished my plantings and it looks better now. I have a small upper garden by the patio which has a St Francis fountain also. We had a wonderful time yesterday enjoying the gardens and BBQ ing with our family for Fathers day. I forgot the camera yesterday though. :banghead: My husband asked me to take pictures and I still forgot.

I will have to see if I can edit the other pictures. They are too large to upload right now.

OOOO! Sounds wonderful. Have they thought of putting in a Rosary path? I am going to one of these days. You make stepping stones for the beads and place them to form and actuaL ROSARY. That would be so cool to walk upon as you pray the Rosary around the gardens.

 I have seen that once or twice myself. I can’t quite wrap my self around that either. 😃

I have a St. Joseph garden. He stands just to the left of a Japanese white pine, surrounded (er… almost engulfed) by clematis and other vines. In the foreground is a stone path that leads back like a meandering river to a small fountain (still working on that part). :o

Marie, they are really nice. I really like your St Frances also.
I’m going to try and send a picture of mine.

Dominic, This is a wonderful idea! I’m thinking for our CCD Program for the mnth of October! Please share any insights as to how you were able to get the children or “the Powers That Be” to agree to it.

Marie, The pictures are lovely…I’m going to make one in my back yard as soon as possible!
Barrister, The St. Joseph’s sounds nice too!

Thanks Maggiec for the Thread.🙂

That way you can bury him in the yard when you sell the house right? 😉 (just kidding, there was quite a brouhaha about that on another thread).

I think everyone’s pictures are lovely. We have one in the back yard. Our statue isn’t painted though - just natural concrete - but nice anyway. It looks like stone. I had a pond in it but the rains this spring have pretty much wrecked that. It is currently being rebuilt and replanted. It had gotten overgrown anyway so I figured this was just a message from Mary that her environment needed a good pruning.

Hello
I am a sculptor. I hope you won’t mind if I send you a to few photos of some of the Mary statues I have made. ( see below) This is not to offer them for sale. These were made for parishes and in a private setting they would probably be too expensive-- as they are each the product of many months work and thousands of dollars paid to have them cast in bronze. It is just that i am proud of them and hope others might like to see them. I hope I can make such a garden for myself someday .

What a wonderful talent you have! God has truly blessed you. How long did it take you to make the crucifix? Its just beautiful.

It took about six months. It took quite a while because i kept getting sick -at one point it caught on fire and almost burned the place down --my own stupidity. Thank you , I am glad you like it.
