Hypoallergenic religious medals? Do they exist?

I am incredibly allergic to nickel. I mean, even the stuff sold in stores, marked “nickel-free” and “hypoallergenic”, I will still get a rash from. (I hear that they are made in factories that also make nickel jewlery, so a trace amount is still in there). I can’t even wear jeans with snaps! It’s awful!

After much searching, I have found 1 company that makes jewlery and watches for people with allergies this severe. 👍

But they don’t make any religious stuff, of course. 😛

Does anyone know if anybody makes religious medals that are hypoallergenic? Or made out of something other than metal? I was so sad when I had to stop wearing my favorite medal because I got an enormous rash. 😦

TraderTif, I know what you are going though since I had my ears pierced over 30 years ago, and they have not yet healed. My advice is to save your money and buy a nice 14 carat gold medal. That may help.

Thanks!

I had actually thought of that, but I doubt it would help, as I have reacted to every other 14k (and even 18k) gold I have tried.

My mother has exactly the same problem. She can’t wear any kind of metal, including 18k gold. We never found any religious medal she could wear but she can wear a scapular. She wears the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (the Brown Scapular).

Yes! I would be totally fine with objects made from cloth, wood, plastic, etc.

I am having trouble finding very many things (aside from scapulars) made from these materials.

Does anyone know of good sources of things like that?
