About thirteen years ago I had a surgery done called conization of the cervix which removed most of the cervical crypts along with my mucus producing capability and fertility. I was told by my doctor at the time that it was possible but not likely that I could get pregnant and that was after I had the surgery done. Well, I just wanted to say that I have five “miracle” babies. I guess God had other plans and I’m so glad he did. I was reading a fertility book the other day and came across this information and the last sentence I was reading said seek a second or third doctor’s opinion before consenting to conization of your cervix. I guess I was too young to fully understand everything that was going on and I trusted my doctor and didn’t even consider a second opinion. If anyone else is told they need to have this done, please get a second opinion and see what other options are available. God bless you.

Congratulations! All babies are “miracles” regardless of what science says. 2nd opinions are always an option, nonetheless.

Good advice Stac4Grace…
I learned that many years ago and glad to hear about your little miracles. 😛

Thats wonderful! God bless your children!

My mum had a problem when she was young and told by a doctor she would never be able to have children… she had five too. 😃

Good for you and no matter what doctors say - it is what God has planned for us.

I too was told 11 years ago that I may never have kids. I got married the next year and 3 years later we had DS well we have been trying for the last 4 years but… We went to a fertility clinic but did not follow through… I have an apptmt at a Catholic fertility clinic next month. But will leave it in God’s Hands.

Thanks be to God! I hope everything goes well for you and I will say a prayer.

That is great news. I would caution though how many couples are told they are not going to have kids and Doc proved right? My sis is 43 and has been married 9 1/2 years. She and hubby both have problems and they have NOT had any biological miracles but have opened their home to adoption through foster care. They have both legally adopted and foster care children in their home.

Hope for your miracles always but our prayers are often answered in other ways from what we asked for.

At 16 I had some female problems and my dr said I would never have kids either. Last time I was in my home state I wanted to take pictures of my kids and hang them in his office. I had a son in 87, twins in 89 and a daughter in 91. Hmm I count 4 “miracles” here.

I was told NOT to have children after 2+ years of trying to conceive. I found out that I had a bicornuate uterus and the doctor that I had at the time told my husband and I that our children would be too premature to survive, or if they survived, they would be born with problems due to prematurity. Here I am, 29 weeks and counting…no preterm labor, no complications, NOTHING! Thank God that we decided to let God be in control and let Him decide when and if we had children!!!

What a miracle!

Babies sure are a miracle! God has a plan for everybody and I am so glad to hear that you are pregnant! Good luck to you and your family and I will pray that things go well for you. God bless.

Just an update - he’s almost 8 months old and PERFECT! We’ve been blessed!😃

DD#3 was born after I was told it was impossible. She was told it was impossible to conceive, but 5 yrs almost to the day since she was married our grandson arrived. Doctors are not the final authority, God is. Both my sisters have medical conditions (two different ones) that make conception impossible, one has mentored hundreds of children through scouting and music, and has started a non-profit that gives scholarships for music education to disadvantaged kids, they have graduates in opera companies and orchestras around the country. Youngest has brought art to school children all over SE Mich, esp. in school districts that do not have paid art teachers in the schools, for over 20 yrs. Mothering is great when you have a miracle baby, but also great however you exercise those talents and gifts.

My mom was also supposed to be infertile, though she wasn’t told that until her first miscarriage. When she was 14, her appendix ruptured and the doctors had to remove and wash most of her internal organs to save her life. (This was in the early 1960s, she was allergic to penicillian, and there just were many other antibiotic options, so getting out most of the infection was neccessary.) Combined with the tyroid storm she had several months later, the doctors told her mother that she would never have any children. Grandma never told Mom what that doctor said, until after a few years of marriage, Mom miscarried and her OB said, in passing, that he was suprised she even got pregnant. But a few months later she got pregnant again, and 9 months later my sister was born. Then 3 years later, I came along. Now Mom has 3 grandchildren. Only God has the power to open and close wombs.

:amen: We had been trying for 9 years after our son, adopted a baby, then… guess what? The drs are still baffled. I’m due in 3 weeks! 😃 So not only did God bless us with our adopted daughter, but now we’re having a biological one too! He has His own plans, in His own timing.

My wife is a leukemia survivor; she went through some pretty heavy chemo right about the same time she hit puberty. It supposedly destroyed her reproductive capabilities, and they told her she would never have any children.

For years, it looked as if they were right…then, in the summer of 2000, she went to the doctor and said, “I feel awful…I think I have the flu.”

To make a long story short, the “flu” will be six years old in March, and is a happy, healthy, rambunctious little boy who is the apple of his poppa’s eye and his mother’s pride and joy.

One thing, though----when you become a father for the first time at the age of 40, you find out why you’re supposed to have kids in your 20’s. 😛 Oy, that kid can tucker me out.

That is WONDERFUL!!! My parents were both seen as pretty much infertile and my mom had one miscarriage, adopted two (I’m one of them 🙂 ) and then four miracle babies right in a row. After the fourth, they continued to try but weren’t able to get pregnant again. They are so thankful for the children they were blessed with. God is SO good! 😃

Getting advice from mutiple doctors is such a good idea!

There is a lady in our parish who had a partial hysterectomy at the advice of her doctor. Later on she was cared for by a pro-life doctor who really guided her through everything and showed her that the PH was unnecessary.

She conceived and had a premature son at 31 weeks when apparently:
  1. She would never have a baby
  2. Her baby would die
He is three months old now and a beautiful gem!

My mother was told she would never have children, after being hit by a car at age 12. She had six, then was told she was in menopause at 38. She then had a “bonus” baby.

What is conization? I am considering a procedure that my doctor told me that after I have it, I could never have children. I just wonder if it is the same as this procedure.

A conization is performed if the results of a cervical biopsy have found a precancerous condition in the cervix or if you’ve had an abnormal pap test. You will be given a general anesthesia and either a scapel or laser will be used to remove a cone shaped piece of your cervix that contains the area with the abnormal cells. After the tissue is removed it will be examined under a microscope for signs of cancer. If cancer is present other tests will need to be done.
If the cells are precancerous they can use a laser to destroy them.
I will be praying that everything goes well for you. God bless
