During RCIA, were were having the discussion of Matirimony. And we were talking about conception when Fr Larry Richards stated on his sermon on Sin that Homosexualism, Mastuerbation, Oral Sex, Anal Sex, and Contraception is a sin because it does not produce life. And the discussion progressed to the point where I asked if In-Vitro is a sin? And the Priest said yes, because it is not natural as God intended. I discovered that I had a hard time swallowing that doctrine. Based on what Fr. Larry Richards said, I don’t see it as a sin, because In-Vitro produces life where life production is not possible.

IVF creates more embryos than are needed. What happens to these children? Do they get discarded. Also, Pope JP II said that every child has a right to be created in an act of love. Children are not to be seen as a commodity but as the result of love between parents. You must use good means to good ends so even though a child is a good end, you must use the right means to create that child.
