Iran to enrich uranium to 60 percent if nuclear talks fail

I can see why the Iranians are getting frustrated. Everytime they offer a deal to halt enrichment, it gets rejected, like their latest offer - “Iranian Diplomat Says Iran Offered Deal to Halt 20-Percent Enrichment” (ipsnews.net/2012/09/iranian-diplomat-says-iran-offered-deal-to-halt-20-percent-enrichment/).

Fordow is where Iran manufactures uranium enriched to just under 20% for a medical reactor that creates isotopes to diagnose and treat cancer. Prior to that, Iran was enriching Uranium at 3.5% which is what civilian reactors use. Iran would not have had to enrich uranium even to 20% had the US not prevented Iran from simply buying the fuel on the open market as is done usually and as Iran had proposed to do.

am I getting this right…the U.S. went to war with Irak because of probable weapons of mass destruction, and Iran has it and they do nothing?

Court Reveals Iranian Operatives In Charge Of Obama’s Iran Policy Since 2009

A ruling handed down on September 13th by the D.C. District Federal Court has finally made clear what many have known for years–that the Obama Administration’s Iran policy was initiated and advanced by a group with illicit, hidden ties to the Iranian Regime and financed by the U.S./Israel- hating George Soros.

In 2009, Barack Obama turned over virtually all responsibility and authority for foreign policy negotiations with Iran to Trita Parsi and his National Iranian American Council (NIAC). Founded by Parsi in 2003, the Washington-based NIAC is a powerful lobbying group that is “…widely considered the de facto lobby for the Iranian Regime in America.”

Like too many organizations that claim to represent the best interests of the nation of Iran and Iranian-Americans, the NIAC is tightly connected with and known to be funded at least in part by the George Soros empire. Small wonder NIAC advice on dealing with Iran was replete with claims that Israeli propaganda was responsible for the negative image imposed on otherwise peace-loving, misunderstood Iranian mullahs. Not exactly a friend of Israel is George Soros.

Defecting Iranian cameraman brings CIA priceless film of secret nuclear sites

Debkafile
reveals one of the CIA’s most dramatic scoops in many years, and epic disaster for Iran. Our most exclusive Iranian and intelligence sources disclose that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s personal cameraman, Hassan Golkhanban, who defected from his UN entourage in New York on Oct. 1, brought with him an intelligence treasure trove of up-to-date photographs and videos of top Iranian leaders visiting their most sensitive and secret nuclear and missile sites.

The cameraman, who is in his 40s, is staying at an undisclosed address, presumably a CIA safe house under close guard. He stayed behind when Ahmadinejad, after his UN speech, departed New York with his 140-strong entourage. For some years, Golkhanban worked not just as a news cameraman but personally recorded visits by the Iranian president and supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of top-secret nuclear facilities and Revolutionary Guards installations.

When he left Tehran in the president’s party, his luggage was not searched and so he was able to bring out two suitcases packed with precious film and deliver it safely into waiting hands in New York. The Iranian cameraman has given US intelligence the most complete and updated footage it has ever obtained of the interiors of Iran’s top secret military facilities and various nuclear installations, including some never revealed to nuclear watchdog inspectors.

Report says U.S., Israel plan Iran strike

WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 (UPI) – The United States and Israel are considering a surgical strike on Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities, Foreign Policy magazine says.

Based on a source reported to be close to discussions between the sides, the report published Monday maintains the strike may only take “a couple of hours” involving a “day or two,” and would be conducted using “primarily bombers and drone support.”

If such a strike is carried out it would set the Iranian nuclear program back many years, the report said and would do so without civilian casualties.

Benefits of such a strike would be regional, Foreign Policy says.

It quotes an unnamed advocate saying the outcome would be “transformative” – “saving Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, reanimating the peace process, securing the (Persian) Gulf, sending an unequivocal message to Russia and China, and assuring American ascendancy in the region for a decade to come.”

US sources: US, Israel plan October Surprise. Others: Israel can do it alone

Four facts deserve attention with regard to a potential attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The first is that the Iranian-Israeli war is already at hand. Iran launched it by sending an unmanned drone into Israeli air space Saturday, Oct. 6, breaking new ground in belligerence with a cyber attack.

“Iran launched it by sending an unmanned drone into Israeli air space Saturday, Oct. 6, breaking new ground in belligerence with a cyber attack”. Are they serious ? What about the bombings and assassinations directed against Iran’s nuclear program, don’t those count as acts of war ?

The first UN Security Coucil resolution on Iran back in 2006 demanded it suspends its uranium enrichment program. It became legally binding by invoking Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter which allows the Council to “determine the existence of any threat to the peace, breach of the peace, or act of aggression” and to take military and nonmilitary action to “restore international peace and security”. The day after the resolution was passed, Ahmadinejad said he would not bow to “the language of force and threats”.

There have now been 7 resolutions passed on Iran. But to answer your question about the bombings and assassinations against Iran’s nuclear program, I don’t believe there is any proof that either Israel or the U.S. had any involvement. (someone correct me if I’m wrong about that) But even if there was, would such acts be permissible under Chapter VII of the UN Charter?

Maybe someone with more knowledge on this can chime in.

Iran would enrich uranium up to 60 percent purity if negotiations with major powers over its nuclear program fail, an Iranian lawmaker said on Tuesday, in comments that may add to Western alarm about Iranian intentions.

Hmm, let’s not jump to conclusions and say that he represents the entire government. After all, the guy in our own government who says that “evolution is a lie from the pit of hell” is not representative of our government, right?

Aside from some isolated reports. I’m certain all the details are unknown to the general public. One of the key rules of war is deceiving the enemy by publishing partly true and partly false information. How long will the planned attack take? A few hours? A few days? No one outside of those in the intelligence community and a few who have a need to know, knows.

I’m certain an attack plan is on the table. What assets will be used is unknown. Violating air space an act of war? Not if you’re a superpower. The Russians violated some Northern European Airspace not that long ago. What’re ya gonna do? Shoot down a Russian plane? I don’t think so.

And who’s stopping Iran from enriching uranium to 60% regardless of how any talks turn out? I’m sure they’ll use their massive satellite network, bomber fleets and large-scale Navy to… uh, oh wait. Never mind.

Peace,
Ed
