My bro-in-law chose Randolph/Randolf as his Confirmation name all those years ago (as a 13 year old) and the reason why he did it was in honor of the late Heavy Metal guitarist! Now, before some of you scold for that reasoning, I have been searching in vain for any Catholic St. Randolph (or Randolf) on the Internet containing a biography. I am starting to believe that there isn’t a St. Randolph!

Using the common spellings, no, there isn’t. However, there is a St. Randoald, OSB which is a Germanic version of Randolph.

Deacon Ed

I am curious if the the name chosen has to be a Saint (canonized) or if it can just be a saint. Deacon Ed, would you mind answering this?

The reason I ask is if it can just be a saint (non-canonized) then I am sure there’s a Randolph somewhere. 🙂
