Is this verse about big government generally or just immigration?

Ezekiel 16:49 Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

Seems like it’s the least about homosexuality, which is an interesting consideration considering how “sodomite” gets tossed around here. Are ICE agents sodomites then? Are libertarians? Is Brett Kavanaugh? Is Donald?

It’s not about either of those things. It’s not about homosexuality either.

That specific verse is about the city of Sodom - how it’s people acted, and God ending it.

The larger context within the chapter amounts to using Sodom as a juxtaposition with Jerusalem. Samaria is also used as a comparison to Jerusalem in that chapter.

Ezekial is using metaphors in this chapter…representing Jerusalem as a daughter, and later in the chapter representing Sodom and Samaria as its sisters.

It isn’t about anything you mentioned. How could it be about immigration or big government? All government was big back then. The concept of current democracy did not exist. And immigration was about cities with big walls that worked and were there to keep the people safe from invaders, and the poor can be cared for without resigning sovernity. Nope. The corrupt governments like Mexico and other south central and south American states are more condemned biblically than the free state of America.
