NEW YORK – As the debate over gay adoption flares in several states, including Massachusetts, a major adoption institute says it supports the rights of gays and lesbians to adopt.

''Policies that preclude adoption by gay or lesbian parents disadvantage the tens of thousands of children mired in the foster-care system," the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute said in the report to be issued today.

Boston Globe columnist Ellen Goodman writes a piece today in the Globe criticizing the Church, Mitt Romney and anybody else that disagrees with her liberal position on gays and adoption. Ms. Goodman has a daughter who currently is heading up a theatre production in which she pokes fun at every conservative value, sometimes viciously. Her favorite target: abstinence education which she calls “ridiculous”. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree I guess. In this column, she tries to pull our heartstrings by presenting a warm and fuzzy picture of particular members of her family which includes a homosexual male couple that recently adopted a child. The birth mother apparently chose the gay dads to raise her child - Ms. Goodman is indignent with anyone and everyone who disagrees with her “values”

In my opinion, gays should never be allowed to adopt. They are not fit to be parents and there are plenty of loving, normal, heterosexual parents.
