WASHINGTON (CNN) – As U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Georgia, faces possible criminal charges for a Wednesday altercation with a Capitol Police officer, one of her lawyers said Friday that the real issues were "sex, race and Ms. McKinney’s progressiveness."
In a news conference featuring actor Danny Glover and singer Harry Belafonte, McKinney said she would be exonerated and that “this whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female, black congresswoman.”

She had little else to say, citing the ongoing investigation into her allegedly striking a police officer after he failed to recognize her at a security checkpoint and tried to stop her from passing.

I really hate to say this, but I’ll make an exception this time: typical liberal b.s., when you’ve done something wrong and won’t admit it, play the race card.**

Actor Danny Glover and singer Harry Belafonte, now there are two people who are unbiased. Not!

McKinney said she would be exonerated and that “this whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female, black congresswoman.” News Flash for McKinney, you are not some sort of sex symbol or goddess, get real.

I would think that where this happened would be well monitored. But, I haven’t seen any video tape of the incident. I’d like to just to see what’s what. I have my suspicions, but I admit they are rather biased against Ms. Cynthia McKinney

From an article I read last week, the whole incident happened just off camera.

Well, isn’t that a kick in the head. Now all I have are my own biases. I could never be a cop anywhere. If it would have been me and said person took a swing, I would have moved into cuff, stuff and mace to the face mode PDQ.

How dare the police to require her to show ID that she didn’t have; or even worse not to recognize her and then allow her to skip on the rules?

The only sound response in this situation is a good right cross, obviously (umm that would be a right cross from the cop, incase you were wondering).

I’ve got several friends that are cops and the stories are always interesting. One of them made a comment once that if they arrest a gangbanger and they take a swipe at the police, he “falls down” too hard while being arrested, no one cares. Do it to a politician (state rep., city councilman, etc.) under the same conditions, then all of the sudden it’s excessive force.

about recognizing her…she has indeed changed her look and I don’t think they would have recognized her.

This may be a case of racism.

Yes I said it but its not what you think.

Racism on the part of McKinney.

I had an experience when I was working as a cashier in a grocery store.

Everyone who paid by check must have a card issued by the store chain to do so. They must give us the card, along with a diver’s license, when they want to pay by check. I had this black lady who gave me her check and the check card but no drivers license. I ask for the DL and she gave it to me. She then waited after and noticed that I did not ask the next lady, a white one, for her DL. She ran to my manager and called me a racist and wanted me fired.

See, when the next lady handed me her check, she also gave me her check card and DL as she knew the rules, as did the other lady as it is explicitly spelt out. I could prove this as the lady’s DL # was on her check in my hand writing.

Some people think they are too good to follow the rules and some think that when the rules are applied to them it is because the one doing so is a racist.

As best I can determine from reading the news, the police never accost a black person except for their race.

However they should be able to recognize the Congress woman by her unique attitude.

I feel sorry for her. I truly believe she is sincere. She has a history of this.

Whatever experiences she had as a child and young adult have made her see the world in “white vs. black”. She has my sympathy.

With that said, I would not vote for such a person. That is beside the point. More importantly, she needs prayers and help.

I think it is all an act to play to her constituancy, she knows what she is doing. No sympathy from me.

If I took a swing at a police officer, my guess is that I’d be in jail right now.

They have these rules for a reason, you don’t want people going in there, pulling out a gun and start shooting people. Has happened before. Part of the outrage is that they do this for their – her – protection.

IIRC, this is not the first time she has accused white officers with charges of racism.

I think she’s sincere and something is wrong with her.
