Most senior Catholic cleric ever convicted

That is usually the case. Australia has a fair court system.
but shouldn’t there be more for a conviction?

I am also a little concerned that the judge not only found that the archbishop was lying but wanted to put it on record why he was lying - to protect the reputation of the church. Regardless of guilt or innocence that looks like a bigoted statement suggesting ‘projection’ from the judge.
 
Wasn’t Cardinal Law convicted of cover-up? Wouldn’t he be the most senior Catholic prelate?
