HellO, JUST THE OTHER DAY, A FRIEND OF MINE WERE DISCUSSING RELIGION. I COMMENTED THAT I NOT ONLY FOLLOWED THE LAWS OF THE US, BUT GODS LAWS, AND HE SAID “HAVE YOU KILLED ANY BUDDIST LATELY?” HE WENT ON TO TELL ME THAT GOD ORDERED THE DEATH OF MANY WHO DID NOT WORSHIP HIM. I WAS WONDERING, HOW CAN OUR EVER-FORGIVING GOD ORDER THE DEATH OF SOMEONE. HE TOLD US, “THY SHALL NOT KILL”, YET HERE THEY WERE KILLING, COULD YOU CLARIFY THIS FOR ME, GOD BLESS, BYE

Actually the commandment was “thou shall not murder”. there is a big difference between murdering and killing. remember in the old testament it was and eye for and eye, so if someone killed your brother, it was lawful in God’s eyes to kill them back. We will never totally understand God, but people were much different, they did not know the love and mercy of Jesus. God had plans for people to kill people, he obviously needed them dead for some reason, who are we to question.

Hello,

When I was seven my cousin Johnny died in the American Vietnam war. America was in a state of anti-war phylosophy, including the Church pulpit. My father and uncles served in WWII and Korea. Alone I faced a heavy burden trying to decifer God’s will on when to kill if drafted. At age sixteen I asked my priest about God’s will on when to kill if drafted. He made me out as a coward and told me I had to serve my country. Yet he always spoke of war as evil from the pulpit.

In my early twenties a fellow Catholic told me about the Church’s “Just War Theory”. I asked him, “In which wars did or does Jesus will us to kill?” He replied, “Oh! Jesus is a pacifist! Jesus never wills us to kill.” “How can there be a Church “Just War Theory” if Jesus never wills us to kill?”, I asked. He had no answer.

Through the decades I have spent tens of thousands of hours in deep prayer, scriptural study and contemplation seeking out the Father and Jesus’ will on when to kill. I invite you to visit my sites and read the scriptures regarding your question.

That priest that said that poor fellow had to serve America must’ve been under pressure from the goverment. You can’t serve something secular and earthly like America. St. Paula DID say, “Do not love the world>” And America is a part of the world. Also, regardless of the circumstances, there is no right way to kill people, no matter what they did. Murder ing someone that rubbed out your loved ones ani’t going to bring your said loved ones back. There can be no holy evils. The church must NOT sin any further, calling on our father to bless murder, no matter what.

That statement raises a couple of questions: what do you think Jesus meant when he said, render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s? When he weeps over Jerusalem as He foretells her travails because He loves it so? That his mother so loved her home that she had angels move it to Loreto?

Neither the bible nor the church have ever held defending one’s nation as “murder”. You are I believe, comparing apples and oranges. The comandment is not to murder the innocent. The acts of defending one’s nation, one’s self, family and innocents (you will recall I’m sure, the biblical citation about laying down one’s life for another) do not fall under “murder”, legally or morally.

Since I really do not know specifically to what you are referring in the above statement I have no comment.

Just the same, I’d rather renounce an earthly thing like a nation, and forgive the killer enemies and such, leaving their fates to God and Jesus alone (only they can judge), and die with my loved ones as martyrs, than resort to revenge. No matter what a person’s done, he or she IS a human, one of the lord’s creations, a human life, just like the rest. Jesus DID say the lord rains on the just and the unjust.:amen:

Just the same, :
Those are conclusions you have chosen for yourself and your family - they do not however answer the questions.

I wondered about that too. I am no expert on the Bible but I just started reading a book written by Scott Hahn “A Father Who Keeps His Promises”. He gives a good explaination of why it seems as though God is condoning “killing”, in reality he is not. In realityhe is fulfilling a promise. Said another way, God revealed himself to the ancient Isrealites and asked if they would follow his plan. When the Isrealites agreed they in effect “bound” themselves in a Covenant that if they followed his plan God would “bless” them, and if they didn’t follow his plan for salvation the Isrealites asked God to “curse” them. So when it seems as though God is condoning killing he is not he is just giving them what they asked for. I believe that still applies today.

By the way if a Buddhist ever comments about your religion ask them why they worship a creation of God. God created the universe. They worship the universe. We all come from the twelve tribes of Isreal. Maybe God wants Buddhist blood because they are violating the frist Commandment. There is only one plan for salvation, keep in mind that Catholic means “universal” so it applies to Buddhist whether they follow the Faith or not… Buddhism is an empty religion…no pun intended:) . I hope this helped. I can understand where you are coming from I use to practice a Buddhist based martial art (temple art). Once I discovered the Truth of Catholic Church I realized how futile Eastern philosophies really are…😃 they are empty (no pun). They dont’ have Christ.

Where is that in the bible? I would like to read the context.
I have read Scott Hahn book also and would agree that what was mentioned earlier may very well be the case.
I am also interested in this since my Great Uncle was a Buddist Monk. He killed himself last month after more than 20 years of that life.
Seeking prayers :gopray2:
