Ann Collins and Joseph Mc Carthy are two that were given to me by my bible Chritian brother in law refuting the Catholic Church. I promised him a response to his articles. I want first to show him why or why not to give credence to their teachings before I send him to much of Catholic Answers information.

Could you identify these people and others in this Fundamental influencial circle?
thank,
alicia

This probably doesn’t answer your question but…
If it’s James McCarthy you can take a look at this website

“The False Gospel of James McCarthy”

Karl Keating wrote a book called CATHOLICISM AND FUNDAMENTALISM (1988) which should be very current as to the types of arguments against Catholicism.

It gives not only the counter-argument, but Keating gives advice on how to communicate with fundamentalists.

It seems to me that you really shouldn’t have to write a treatise refuting all that stuff just to please your BIL. Has he offered to read the works of e.g. Cardinal Newman or Scott Hahn and give you his response to them?

Peace.

This is the BEST suggestion. Your BIL gives you something to read and then you give the BIL something to read. If he passes then you can pass on his stuff. You are not under any obligaiton to reach what is no doubt vehementaly anti-Catholic fodder.

Peace.

I recommend the great FREE Apologetics CDs of John Martignoni at The Bible Christian Society.

Also if that is John MacArthur there is a very good thread by a guy whose marriage was almost wrecked because of another BIL who gave his wife a JM CD “exposing” the Catholic Church. If you will PM that man now. (MWFields) you’ll find that he and his wife are still together and have refuted all that a-C rhetoric with facts. It’s a good story.

Some of the best Apologetics materials around come from San Juan Catholic Seminars and for the money (about $50.00) you can’t get better stuff.
Pax tecum,
