Is any religious educator or parent out there familiar with “The Animated Stories from the Bible” put out by NEST Family Entertainment? I am previewing some of these cartoon DVDs to supplement the children religious ed. program at my parish. They seem pretty close to the scriptural accounts for both the Old Testament and New Testament. They claim to be non-sectarian in their interpretation/presentation of Scripture and they have a Jewish Rabbi, a few Protestants, and a Catholic scholar from Notre Dame on their advisory board. Ignatius Press carries this product which leads me to believe that it probably does not conflict with Church teaching. Anyone have any experience and comments on this?

we had an extended thread on this topic not too long ago , and several people with good experience posted reviews of the series and of individual videos. by and large they are fine for kids to see, but I don’t recommend videos as their first or only exposure to the bible stories. As an introduction, followed by exploring the actual stories with a Catholic children’s bible, they are great. for use in CCD I would have to review each one before showing it. We have half a dozen and I have not seen anything problematic yet.
