I’ve really been struggling with some things, some Catholic doctrine, during my RCIA process, and I’ve come to the realization that right now, I would not be comfortable with being confirmed.

I can’t stand there and say that I believe everything the Catholic church teaches, making myself a hypocrite, and basically lying to my fellow parishioners and to God.

It makes me sad, because I still feel like the church is where I belong, but I don’t want to go through with it until I am confidant that I can live as a “good” Catholic.

I am so grateful that my Priest, Father Justin, is so amazingly understanding. LoL It really makes this easier :-p

::sigh:: Anyways…I hope you all have a wonderful day, and week 🙂 Thanks for letting me ramble.

it takes as long as it takes. There is no guarantee that you take classes for a year and bingo, you know it all, understand it all, and accept it all. the profession of faith you are required to make at Confirmation is the Nicene Creed, beliefs held in common by most Christians. It is not necessary that you have a graduate degree in Catholic doctrine and theology. Continue meeting with this supportive priest and your RCIA team, and when you are ready, you are ready. do not on any account abandon the scripture reading, prayer and Mass attendance that have been part of this process. You do realize the entire Church, on earth, in purgatory and in heaven, is united in praying for you, and all the candidates and catechumens, especially during Lent.
