Me and a freind were talking about the inquisition in Spain and he said that there was a Papal bull that was issued against the Spanish Inquisition. As niffty as I thought that was, I thought I should ask ya’ll guys about it before I say anything about it in public. Is there really such a Papal bull? Thanks and God bless.

As far as I know there was never a Papal Bull issued against the Inquisition in Spain. Just the opposite, it was created by a Papal Bull.

But…Pope Sixtus VI was strongly against an Inquistition fearing that it was just a ploy by Ferdinand to steal land from the Jews.

When abuses were reported back to the Pope, he did send notice to put them back in line.

Have you read this:

No, I hadn’t read that. Thank you. Do you know where I can find a copy of the discovery the scholors made on the inquisition? What the name proper is? All that kind of stuff is (I would like to use Interlybray loan seeing as I am rather broke right now and can’t afford to buy a copy)? Thanks and God bless.

I had a very objective book from the History Book Club about five years ago that covered the Spanish Inquisition using some sources from the Vatican Archives. I loaned it to someone and never got it back. I would suggest going on to Amazon.Com and looking at what they might have and then use titles and authors to seek a library or inter-library loan on the one(s) that look most interesting.

I think eventually after hearing incedents of abuse and suffering, a issue was put out that inquisitors could not draw blood by any of their actions.

Primary Sources? What are the “primary sources” supporting this myth called the Spanish Inquisition in which suppossedly hundreds of thousands were killed? Lea and his so called history? Try reading the book The Spanish Inquisition mentioned in the article…it’s not written by a Catholic and reveals that at the very most 2400 were killed during the entire history of the Spanish Inquisition, and that was those who repented and then went back against the repentence. The Spanish Inquisition was the most liberal court of it’s time. You want “Primary Sources” read a little history.

It seems I created a new Pope in my post.
It was Pope Sixtus IV, not Pope Sixtus VI. My thanks to the person who pointed it out.
