That would only be hypocritical if the Vatican walls were to keep our immigrants. When I was staying in Rome, I daily walked from Italy into the Vatican through the walls without breaking stride. Study the historical reasons the Vatican has walls-they’re medieval and Renaissance defensive fortifications. While I don’t agree with Trump’s position on immigration, this argument is a bit of a non sequitur.I find it a bit hypocritical of the Pope to criticize Trump as not being a Christian because of his comments about building a wall, among other things. Yet the Vatican is surrounded by a tall wall last time I checked. Just where does the Pope stand on illegal immigration?
Considering that Pope Francis takes a lot of risks already when he mingles with the crowds and that John Paul II was nearly assassinated it is hypocritical to accuse him of hypocrisy.
