Some good news to cheer about!
** A popular adoption company **recently pulled its “Non-Traditional Families” forum from its online boards with the statement that it does not believe GLBT families are in the best interest of children. Hooray! Corporate America taking a stand! The place is in an uproar and the people who support it are staying quiet for fear of being banned. I don’t think the owner will back down though. The same guy in charge was sued several years ago by a gay couple he refused to facilitate an adoption for, and it is my understanding that he stopped doing adoptions after that in order to not be forced by the courts to facilitate gay and lesbian adoptions. I’ve deleted the company’s name to avoid a swarm, but think it is important for all of us here to see that there are big and powerful people who are willing to take a stand for what they believe in. Thank you for all of you who keep up the fight for our children both in the womb or the world. Your voice really can make a difference!
"We want [our board] to be a place where all types of adoptive families can come and find support. We don’t want to become a political forum that is used to advocate for views that we feel are not in the best interest of children. That forum crossed the line of being used for support to become a political activism forum. We’re not comfortable with [our board] being used for that purpose.”
