I am working on writing a letter to someone over religious items and I was just wondering, what would be the proper leangth I give each topic? I don’t want to be to short on a topic and make it sound rather dumb and inaduquate. On the other hand I don’t want it to be to long in fear that he might loose steam half way through. Any Suggestions? Thanks and God bless.

From my background of writing proposals and recommendations to generals and colonels, keep it short and concise.

The rule was to limit it to one page, with back-up appendices if necessary. He will not turn the page, but the details are there to prove your point.

Don’t write a solid block. Break it into short, to the point, paragraphs. Each should have a subject sentence and one or two supporting sentences. Use short words, and short simple sentences, especially if the topic is technical. A page of solid print discourages the reader before he starts.
