Purple Peruvian Nuns

Those watching the pope’s visit to Peru may have noticed purple habits among the cloistered nuns. Those with white cappas were the Nazarena Discalced Carmelites, who have special permission to wear a purple Carmelite habit:

The statue of the Lord of Miracles wears a purple robe, hence the habit color.
