While many city’s residents agree with the Church’s stand against homosexual adoption, the resolution stated “It is an insult to all San Franciscans when a foreign country, like the Vatican, meddles with and attempts to negatively influence this great city’s existing and established customs and traditions, such as the right of same-sex couples to adopt and care for children in need.”

While this isn’t surprising coming from that city, I am disturbed that it said this as an official statement from a governmental organization. As private citizens, it’s one thing, but as a governmental body even if the resolution was not binding? Very disturbing.
 
I live here so be certain that I’ll be giving them a peice of my mind. It won’t be the first time. Feel free to write/email/call them as well. They’re attacking Catholics no matter where they live! By the way, I didn’t vote for any of these guys.
 
When SF is against your beliefs… you’re doing something right IMO.

There is nothing so vicious as a thwarted active agenda pushing homosexual or in this case a bunch of them.
 
Some Catholics still continue to live in their sins and accuse the Vatican of being unfeeling and unsympathetic. You can’t be pro-gay and Catholic.

Good grief…this debate is just out of control.

Regardless of one’s view on gay adoption, being opposed to it does not make one homophobic or mean.

Both sides of this debate put things in such absolute terms that its no wonder that we can’t talk in a civil way about it.

Do you suppose the ACLU is chompin’ at the bit to get involved with this one? After all, we can’t have the guv’mint gettin’ involved with religion, can we? Horror of horrors! :bigyikes:
 
It is interesting that the same description could by applied to the San Francisco City Government.

I hope the Archbishop of San Francisco verbally lambasts them for this and explains clearly why gay adoption is bad for the children.
