More than just posture, you can’t hang ten pounds on you neck for years without having future orthopedic deformities and pain.

😁 Really am enjoying these responses. But alas it is disconcerting to see at a school function, honoring a teacher leaving ,all these little children playing games on cell phones ,while the adults are watching the little ones doing a cheer for the teacher, on stage. 😯 😶 😞

Admittedly some of the modern change is that so many of us work on screens. I’m paid to stare at an email inbox for 40 hours a week.

That is really too much! I am sure you are not the only one either. Something needs to change in our work world and I’m going to check out what the Church teaches about the dignity of work etc. I refuse to use the check out automatic ones (maybe did it 2 times) because they are going to take jobs away from people. I offer up my standing on line for the workers or what ever God chooses.

For the store my son manages, this is not the case. More people are hired in different positions or people are moved to other jobs. They simply cannot hire enough people to fill the new jobs that have been created in online grocery pickup and in grocery delivery.

Some jobs just go away. I was trained as a switchboard operator many years ago, just because we don’t need switchboards does not mean that I will not use a modern phone.

Well, that is good to know. A question I have is progress always good for humanity? Are all jobs ethical? What is best for the common good. Just wondering.

Sounds like topics for a different thread 🙂

But, no not all jobs are ethical.

I suspect most office workers spent their days bent over a desk of papers before that anyway. Doubt that was much healthier.

They were saying things about television, and, before that, even radio. It’s just a matter of taste, time management, and morals. Curse or blessing? In between? It’s up to the individual.

V. THE USE OF THE SOCIAL COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA`

**[2496]
The means of social communication (especially the mass media) can give rise to a certain passivity among users, making them less than vigilant consumers of what is said or shown. Users should practice moderation and discipline in their approach to the mass media. They will want to form enlightened and correct consciences the more easily to resist unwholesome influences.
Code:
*I think television* ,if it was used in the past with moderation , and had good programming could have been used for the common good. But as I look back on the influence of public television in the usa and on 'Baby Boomers 'as well as all generations beyond the Boomers,
I have my doubts about how good it has been for our society.

They dont take jobs away from people, they actually create jobs of the people creating and repairing the self check system…
Its literally like saying you wont buy a car because you dont want to take jobs away from blacksmiths…
