Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities

Their motherhouse is in my city. One of their early members was St. Marianne Cope of Molokai, who worked with Father Damian.
 
I prayed for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia today at Mass, and all religious communities represented therein. A lot of history there. St. Marianne is a great example. I especially like when she procured bright materials to cheer up her patients. (Occupational therapy)?
 
Marianne was born in Utica, and never even visited Philadelphia. The Syracuse community’s founder was formed there, but the always intrusive Archbishop Wood broke off connection with the women when they left his jurisdiction. He did that in a number of cases, including the IHMs and some foundations of Mercys.
 
Fascinating that you posted that. My great aunt was a part of that community. Her name was Sister M. Marcia.
