Actually, they were NOT founded in Nottingham, England in 1887. They were founded in the US several years earlier by Margaret Anna Cusack, the “Nun of Kenmare,” who later left the community and the Catholic church. The Bishop of Nottingham co-opted the congregation, but the sisters reclaimed their actual history in the aftermath of Vatican II. There is a HUGE amount of history on them. I would recommend Sr. Dorothy Vidulich’s “Peace Pays a Price” as a starting point. Then I would read Irene Ffrench Eager’s book on Cusack: Amazon.com
