I’m a revert/convert (actually, I’m really not sure which one I am…but that’s another post) and am new to most all things Catholic. I just started attending the CC in November and am still at a loss on a lot of the customs. When I started attending the CC I read everything I could get my hands on to learn all about the beliefs…but things like putting your fist to your heart during certain parts of the mass etc seem to be more “customs” than dogma…and that’s where I’m needing help.
ANYWAY, everything I’ve ever read says that you pray the Sorrowful Mysteries on Tuesdays and Fridays except during Lent when it becomes Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Now, I just read in the back of the St. Joseph’s Sunday Missal that the Sorrowful Mysteries are prayed EVERY day from Ash Wednesday thru Good Friday. So which is it???
(I do know that the Mystery “Days” are more like suggestions and that you don’t HAVE to pray these on this day or those on that day…but I want to know what is the traditional way that most Cradle Catholics do this.)
BTW, my husband is a Cradle Catholic, 42 years of age, and said that he was never taught to pray the Mysteries during the Rosary! And he grew up VERY involved in the church…I find that very strange!
So, what’s the “traditional” way that YOU learned to do this???
Thanks!!!
