Merry Christmas to everyone! I posted for prayers after my husband left. Thank you so much for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers. I have been praying for my children and him. He called the kids today and I made sure they were all nice to him eventhough 2 are very bitter. The children did seem to be fine and happy today. I think heprobably needs prayers more than we do- he must be lost. I have good days and bad ones. Like the post in “He left us…” i keep thinking he will call and beg forgivness, but I really don’t think he will. Everytime I start to think about it, I say a Hail Mary. I am also starting a novena to St Joseph.

Thanks again
Anne

Anne, I am so sorry to hear your husband has left you. I did not see your request for prayers, but please know I am praying for you and your family now.

One thing struck me about your post here, and prompted me to respond. The fact that you made sure your children show respect to their father is something that will stick with them as a testament to your character for the rest of their lives. If this is how you behave despite the pain and anger you must be feeling, I guarantee your kids will remember it. I know because it is the single greatest thing I remember about how my own mother behaved when my father left. I have little respect for my father due to the way he behaved when he left us. He showed an ugliness towards my mother that until that point I had not known existed in the world, yet my mother always insisted that we never be disrespectful towards him. More to the point, my mother herself never EVER said an unkind word about him in our presence. When we became adults, we asked her about her attitude towards my father, how she could have been so kind and insist that we show him respect, when he did such awful things to her. Her response was that she knew we would ultimately decide for ourselves if we wanted a relationship with him, and see for ourselves what kind of person he had become. In the meantime he was still our father and she would never talk bad about him to us because she did not want to color our opinions of him with her pain and anger. I have an unbelievable amount of respect for my mother and her character because of that great effort she made for our sake. I know that if you are acting the same way with your children, they will ultimately have greater respect for you than you can imagine, regardless of how they ever feel about their father.
