Can a single mother over 40 years live the consecrated life?

Of course, but your first responsibility must be to your children, especially while they are underage or need your continued care.

Thanks for your response. I have a 10 year old daughter and I have never been married.

How do I start my journey being consecrated and explaining to my daughter that I do not wish to get married again.

I have tried celibacy for about 3 years now. It has not been easy but I ask God for strength.

Now is not the time to be discussing consecrated life with your daughter - she is still a baby and you are years away from being able to do much about it. Just live a good life and be a good mother for now. Your daughter will be entering puberty soon and will need your guidance to develop into a wonderful woman. So be a good role model. There is really nothing to tell your daughter at this point in time so why make her life feel unstable? This is your vocation for now.

What you could be doing, in addition to being a good mother, is learning more about your faith and reading books about different spiritualities and types of consecrated life. When it comes time to actually make a decision, you will be better informed about your options. But don’t live in the future - who knows what it will bring. God’s way are mysterious and beyond our comprehension.

Thank you very much. It is usually hard and confusing to discern what God wants from us aside living the godly life and living by His teachings.

I guess it is a step at a time and getting to understand more about my faith as you rightly said.

I was once an anchor for the Catholic Faith for a local TV programme - that was years back and it’s all fled now. Thanks again. God bless you.
