I am making a booklet for some folks and I need to have as many paralles between the passover llamb and Christ. For example:

Like the Passover lamb, Christ was to be without blemish (Ex 12:5 / Heb 9:14) The Passover lamb was examined on the 14th day of Nisan to ensure that it was unblemished, and Christ was examined on the 14th day of Nisan; no fault was found in Him (Luke 23:4,14; John 18:38; 19:4,6) The Passover lamb’s bones were not to be broken, and Christ’s bones were not broken (Ex 12:46, Num. 9:12 / John 19:36) .

Any more?

I don’t know the chapter and verses, but the lamb’s blood was spread on the door post with a hyssop branch during the original passover. Christ’s blood was spilled on the “post” (the cross) during our spititual passover and he was offered the sour wine on a hyssop branch.

And, of course, the lamb had to be eaten.

I read somewhere that the gate that Christ entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday was the “sheep gate” through which the Passover lambs were brought into the city for slaughter.

Also, I believe the lambs were to be a young male, fully mature.

I’ll second “The Fourth Cup”.

Also, I came up with this a while back - perhaps it helps.

God Bless,

Thanks. 🙂

I had already included the four cups in there. I was looking for more direct Jesus - Lamb stuff. I think I have a good deal, but I asked because I am sure there is more… the Scriptures are so deep, especially where they concern the Eucharist!

I’m not sure if this is what you had in mind, but what about Revelation 5:6?
6 And I saw: and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the ancients, a Lamb standing as it were slain
or 5:9-13:
9 And they sung a new canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; because thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation. 10 And hast made us to our God a kingdom and priests, and we shall reign on the earth. 11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne, and the living creatures, and the ancients; and the number of them was thousands of thousands, 12 Saying with a loud voice: The Lamb that was slain is worthy to receive power, and divinity, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and benediction. 13 And every creature, which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them: I heard all saying: To him that sitteth on the throne, and to the Lamb, benediction, and honour, and glory, and power, for ever and ever.
(emphasis mine in both quotes)

Actually Revelation is full of references to Christ as “the Lamb”, and if not THE Paschal Lamb, then what?

Also from Chapter 12 Exodus…

Any of the passover lamb not comsumed must be burnt(returned to God) just like our sink (sort of forget the name) in the sacristry which returns any remaining euchrist or precious blood to the earth (returned to God).

The pascial lamb was sacrificed intact, not slaughtered or disemboweled as it would be if it were merely for food.

The jewish households were saved from the angel of death by the blood of the lamb on the door posts as stated by someone else already. Our salvation is made possible by the death of Christ, by his blood on the cross.
