There are 2 million illegal aliens in the US. You just saw a some of them.

Congress is taking up immigration reform in the next few weeks (if they dare). Anyone want to lay any bets they actually pass something? 😉

The President’s Strategy for Comprehensive Immigration Reform in detail is here.

Here is a quick outline:

Comprehensive Immigration Reform Begins With Securing The Border. To secure the border, the President is pursuing a three-part plan.

· First, The U.S. Will Return Every Illegal Entrant Caught Crossing The Southwest Border With No Exceptions

o The Administration Is Ending The Practice Of "Catch And Release."

o The Administration Is Taking Further Steps To Accelerate The Removal Process.

· Second, The Administration Will Work With Congress To Reform Immigration Laws

· Third, The Federal Government Will Act To Stop People From Illegally Crossing The Border In The First Place.

o Increasing Manpower.

o Deploying New Technology.

o Constructing Physical Barriers To Entry.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform Requires Improved Enforcement Of Immigration Laws Within The United States.

· The Federal Government Is Improving Worksite Enforcement

o To Help Businesses Comply With Immigration Laws, The Government Is Addressing Document Fraud.

· The President Has Committed The Resources Necessary To Enforce Immigration Laws.

As Part Of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, The President Has Proposed The Creation Of A New Temporary Worker Program.
.

· A Temporary Worker Program Would Not Provide Amnesty.

Thanks for the info.

Sounds pretty good. First, stop the bleeding. Next, attend to the wounds.

It’s about dog gone time! If course they’re protesting in L.A. Probably most of the protesters are illegals or their families anyway. It’s time they stopped this rampant disregard for our immagration laws. Now we’ll see if the congress has enough backbone to pass it.

To bad they couldn’t divert the march in a south-bound direction…we would have been able to save some time.

I like it, I like it. They should have jobs down there, as they have most of our major industries. Actually, I would be very surprised if the bill is passed and enforced. I don’t think the politicians have the will power, and are more worried about the upcoming elections. Politics in general are in a really sad state in this country. I may not vote at all for the first time in about 40 years. Unless there are some good, pro-life people on the ticket.

I believe the actual total is11 million. What is most disturbing was the preponderance of Mexican flags being carried in the protest.

Wow. So… Push them all down to the South… RIGHT. The brown skin people?

What about Irish, German, Italian, Russian, Greek, Polish, Hasidic Jews?

What about people from the continent of Africa, Dominicans, Cubans, Haitians, Chinese, Korean?

Don’t put words in our mouths… we’re talking about → ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.<-- None of us said nothing about color of skin. Don’t make this into something its not.

Obviously some of them came here to live that American dream. They don’t have that right do they?

Lemme guess, do it the legal way? I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood. I’ve seen the troubles that honest illegal immigrants go through to even APPLY for citizenship. I’ve seen the financial burden that arises when they try and apply as well. So I don’t see how some dirt poor person in Mexico or whatever country can accumulate the money to even try and get here.

I don’t feel that they should concentrate on 1 group of immigrants but on all. Why not build fences up in Canadian border? Most of the Greek, Italian, Russian, and Polish immigrants I know came from up that way.

Uhhh… yea… so honest they broke the law to get here… that makes them DIShonest. Also… there are ALOT of other than Mexican illegals using the Mexican borders too… they also need to be stopped.

We also need to secure the Canadian borders… one of the articles I read stated that some members on Al-Quida (sp?) came thru Montreal… no arguement here.

Didn’t realize we had a problem with Greek, Italian, Russian, and Polish immigrants… first I heard of it… but if they are illegal… ship’m off.

If they are here illegally, then I don’t care if they are blue.
What about Irish, German, Italian, Russian, Greek, Polish, Hasidic Jews?
What about them? Legal immigrants usually turn into awesome US citizens.
What about people from the continent of Africa, Dominicans, Cubans, Haitians, Chinese, Korean?
Same as above. If they are here legally, then they have a shot at the American dream and usually succeed.

Not if they are here illegally.

Yes.
I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood.
So did I. It was a neighborhood of white people, but it was quite diverse. There were wealthy people, poor people, baptists, Catholics, democrats, republicans, pianists, plummers and car salesmen. Lots of diversity!

How to you square the notion of “honest” and “illegal” together like that?
I’ve seen the financial burden that arises when they try and apply as well. So I don’t see how some dirt poor person in Mexico or whatever country can accumulate the money to even try and get here.
So? Their fiscal state, poor or not doesn’t give them a free pass to breaking our laws.

I’m for it.
Most of the Greek, Italian, Russian, and Polish immigrants I know came from up that way.
Then you should report them to immigration officials if you suspect they are hear illegally.

Alrighty, ya’ll proved your point. I’ll start thinking the same way you people do.

No human rights for anyone. Anyone who is not American has no right to freedom, no rights to anything. It is not my problem if people starve to death in the world. It is not my problem if people are oppressed by their government. It is not my problem if Juan, Peter, Olga, from Europe, Africa, Australia, South America, wants to come into this country so he can support his 2 kids who are barefoot and starving. If he wants to be an American let him pay his dues. Since being an American is an HONOR and not a privilege, since being an American you are joining this ELITE group, only those who can afford it shall be given membership. If you’re uneducated, poor, and oppressed, you need not apply.

Lets build walls, all over our borders. Lets build a bubble over our airspace. Shoot any foreign Jet liner off the sky. We wouldn’t want any possible illegal immigrants to come into our territory.

Let’s just blow up the rest of the world so that we don’t risk any illegal immigrants coming into our country, taking away our jobs, cluttering the welfare system and social security system.

I’m all for it. 👍

We’re also talking about tearing apart families. You have many parents who are illegal, but whose children were born in the United States and have only ever lived here. And the main point of controversy in the Sensenbrenner proposal is making people who help illegal immigrants into criminals. That includes the Catholic Church, their own families, and anyone else helping them with food or shelter.

On the one hand, our political leaders have done everything in their power to aid the businesses that profit from illegal immigrants while turning Americans against those very immigrants. It’s a national disgrace and the border needs to be secured. But we can’t scapegoat the very people that were encouraged to come here.

I posted this on another thread that dealt with this situation and I’ll post it here and be done with it.
I dunno man, I guess I am a sucker for charity. I guess I am just too soft. Or maybe I’m a liberal
Seriously, I feel all humans have a right to be free, escape that which oppresses them, escape poverty, feed their children, etc. That, I don’t usually get along well with Mexicans either, since there are rifts between Mexicans and Puerto Ricans. Not that I look at anyone’s ethnic background, gender or sexual preference, since that is not my business, nor do I judge them based on that.
There are good points to a wall and there are bad points to a wall. Reagan fought to bring down the Berlin wall and here we are bringing up a wall ourselves. I know comparing the Berlin Wall to this Wall is comparing apples to oranges but I feel humanity should have no barriers set in front of them, other than the ones put forward by God.
God Bless you all
