Something that always bothered me about the transfiguration is that Moses and Elijah talk to Jesus as though He were their pal, or maybe a little bit senior to them. They certainly don’t adore Him or otherwise indicate that He is God. . In short, the transfiguration story seems to contradict the divinity of Jesus. Am I missing something here ?

Dear Roemer,

The Apostles weren’t always adoring Jesus either. He conversed with them and they with Him. So what! What is significant about the Transfiguration is what the Father said about Jesus: “This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him. (Lk 9:35) That sounds pretty divine to me!
