First, who am I?
I’m a Canadain former catholic working in computer science both in security and the entertainment industry. I have two years of seminary under my belt. Currently, I’m going back to school again to upgrade as computers is a never-ending struggle to stay ahead of the curve.
Most objection to vaccinations stems from moral and health concerns. I’ll try to source as best I can and would appreciate any help if I missed something.
Heath:
This can normally be boiled down rather quickly. People have concerns what’s in vaccines and what they do to the body. Most of these worries stem around the cocktail in the vial. Others stem from what these chemicals do to the human body. Example; autism.
I don’t have a bachelors in chemistry but I am keen on my sciences. I make it a personal vested interest to at least keep up when reading.
Vaccines are made by growing them in eggs or cells then either killing a virus in a chemical bath or ripping them to shreds. They are then preserved in a solution which is what makes up most of your standard flu shot.
Isn’t mercury and other chemicals harmful to humans in there?
Yes but not in amounts that will affect you as much as ensure the virus lives just long enough to be killed by your immune system. To demonstrate there’s Arsenic in apples and phosphates in bananas but you don’t Macbeth or burst into flames (respectively) after eating them.
Your body is very capable of dealing with trace amounts of unwanted toxins which by the way is the science behind the vaccine to start with.
I’m going to assume I don’t need to tell you the textbook idea behind that.
Morality:
I’ve only ever run into one simple point for catholics here and its normally the prolife one. thankfully its easy to answer but hard for many to accept.
Most anti vacs assume that vaccines are made with either aborted cells or other such. I’ve never been able to find anything to refute that’s where the first vaccines started but I ask for your patients.
Today’s vaccines are made from animal cells, bug cells with modding or fertilized eggs…
Why fertilized eggs?
Because an egg only has half the DNA of its host and is for all intents and purposes inert. A virus that attacks living cells may not find the correct let’s say perch it normally would. The sperm carried with it the other half of a cell in this case so we need a full cell culture.
The bottom line is while early vaccines may have been made with humans we don’t need too anymore. Granted I haven’t much info that I can validate for sure it what part or parts of humans were used but that’s beside the point.
Whatever tests were done to ensure that the difference between human grown vaccines and animals have been done. We know enough and should let it rest.
I look forward to the on topic discussion.
