“Martin’s talk is not the only meeting event indicating that organizers were keen to follow Francis’ lead and reach out to some of the most marginalized Catholics. Other workshops are on Catholics suffering from addiction and domestic violence, coping with family members in prison and homelessness.”

Excellent.

It looks like a fine conference to me. Families face many new and unique challenges.

Hopefully that means “help you get healed and over your …” addiction, and domestic violence (and not accepting drug addiction or domestic violence as acceptable lifestyles … though to some they ARE a lifestyle or have been).

Coping with family members in prison, and homelessness seem like spiritually helpful topics as well.

LGBT(other letters follow in some circles) people being presented as marginalized and needing to be welcomed into the Church COULD be good … but really** …
  • Don’t come into the hospital …
  • IF you feel like spreading the disease, and/or acceptance of it,
  • is your mission, versus
  • taking measures to be as well as you can be.
** (Fr. James Martin … and such)

Some other commentary on this event. And a webinar on it tomorrow night at this site.

Hmm. Tried to just post the link in a low key way and this big piece of art shows up.

Oh well. This site doesn’t work like it used to. 🤔 < but at least the emojis I can still figure out.

What does Boris say that bothers you so much?

Also, why do you think his personal background invalidates what he is saying?

I agree with you about how he presents his view on issues–so much leaping to conclusions that he ends up sounding like Alex Jones!-- but in this case, I thought his past would bring additional insight that the rest of us might not have.

What do you think about his criticism of the use of the word homophobia?

He doesn’t sound anywhere near as bad as Alex Jones!!!

(Small joke on their voices)

Voris has publically admitted his former lifestyle was a mistake. And appears to be trying to live in a chaste way now … and also presents a 'you too can overcome this since with God’s grace " perspective at a time when homosexual sins are being dismissed or justified in a manner that’d be as wrong as ‘boys will be boys’ heterosexual blanket dispensation to misbehave < (or stronger adjective).

Poisoning the well is a logical fallacy, as are ad hominem arguments. The truth is the truth and should be scrutinized as such and acknowledged as right … as God has seen fit to use: Augustine, Paul, Mary Magdalene, and Peter (after their repentences) … in particularly spectacular ways in the past.

The priest scheduled to speak here has quite a different message and is not calling struggling sinners to repentence and reconciliation … unless I’ve missed something … in which case please post Fr. Martin’s thoughtful outreach message(s) by all means.

As for casting aspersions on anyone not quick to embrace the latest theological sexual novelties … don’t post such in place of orthodox and charitable guidance please. (Anyone).

I may answer such if someone does. 🤔

Well, first of all, the Catholic Church did not tell him to stop using the name Catholic… He is simply an employee or contractor for the man who owns the company RealCatholicTV. And that man was told by one bishop of another diocese to stop using the name. And lastly, the name has since been changed to ChurchMilitant.

If RealCatholicTV is so bad, then why didn’t the owner’s own bishop tell him to stop calling his company Catholic? And if Voris and the owner were so bad, why would they change the name, as it is actually against canon law to use Catholic in a name like this without authorization?

Since you decided to continue discussing the messenger rather than the message, I thought I’d ask again.

The Church is not just one Bishop accruing the title Catholic as an exclusive … which, by the way Voris complied with and changed the name of his ministry.

Church Militant News is doing good job of highlighting important Catholic News from around the world, IMO, including the subject of this thread.

Some of that news is scandalous. But we live in scandalous times, and Church .Militant at least has a bias toward morality (as opposed to the MSMs reportage of Catholic scandals).

If the Pope is going to Ireland right after 2/3 of it’s voters, legalized abortion, and is sharing Marquee time with this seeming champion of an objective mortal sin, I hope he gives as stirring a call to good counsel as Voris often does on the weightiest moral matters.

Instead of hectoring people with vague references about the “global weather,” or how denying erudite projections on what it will be like in 100 years, is the most very, very wrong thing a member of the flock can do (from the volume and repetitiveness of it).

Recognizing that families include gay people is “hijacking,”
You must have posted that specifically to proved jagged’s point.

No my views on gays are well known here on this forum.
I think both sides are not getting it quite right. I don’t intend to prove any point here in the news section, just simply aware of what is happening. Ie news. So I often post news that I agree with AND news that I don’t agree with AND news that I partially agree with.

I hope (maybe I’m not doing a good job) to post news that Catholics should know or are interested to know whether one agrees with the news or not.

Basically FYI only. No strings attached.
