Hello guys.

Im 22, to be confirmed at the easter vigil. Coming into the Catholic Chruch, I’ve had desires to become a preist. However, God has given me gifts to play music and I plan to go out and minister In different scenes with it. (like gigs and coffee places) and to make CDs. As I’ve prayed about the priest thing, I once saw a vision of a preist behind bars. I took it as “hey youll be imprisoned from doing God’s other works for you in music if you become a preist”. Ive also seen a chain slammed against the ground as God was conveying breaking my chains I believe in my spiritual life. I believe this was God speaking. The vision was at a different church though, not the one I’m in RCIA at. But I attend that different church sometimes. Anyways, the chain was laying behind the altar… I’m not sure why behind… But maybe I’m just seeing other things as he speaks to me, but still I’m worried by this. I prayed about meeting a girl, and in fact met a young girl the other night at my church. She grew up Catholic (which I said to God she needed to be Catholic haha) but, I’m worried. I don’t want to make the wrong decision. People have said they see a preist in me.

Talk to your Diocesan vocations office.

Do you honestly think that God would give you a gift of musical talent, and then call you to be a Priest and then somehow punish you for being a priest?

Just a few of the gifted priests who share their music with the world:

Classical

Jazz

American Roots Music

My FRIEND: God is in charge [Check out Bishop Barron who is very musically talented] AND do yourself a favor and talk to your Pastor about what’s going on in your mind and heart ASAP

Pray very much

And rock n roll, heavy metal. These priests are from Spain. I saw them perform in Dallas at a Catholic Youth convention. This interview is in Spanish.

The Catholic Church knows that converts and those baptised into the Catholic Church need some time after to, simply put it, live as Catholics before they think about a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. In my diocese it is three years.

Deacons and priests sing part of the mass so music skills are good to be gifted with. They just don’t play any instrument during the mass but that could be done during youth meetings or visiting the elderly or hospitalised.
