Does anyone know what the Mass readings are for this coming 5th Sunday of Lent (April 2)? The USCCB website has two completely different sets (options?) of readings? Could either set, depending upon the preference of the liturgy folks, be presented at any given Mass that day?

This always throws me for a loop when I’m trying to prepare my future Bible studies! :whacky:

I cant read that site, but the readings for Cycle B 5th sun Lent are Jer 31:31-34, Heb 5:7-9 and John 12-20-33. If the Mass is one where the 3rd scrutiny for the Elect (RCIA) are observed, the Readings from Cycle A should be used, and the homily should refer to the gospel and relate it to the scrutinies and RCIA process they are going through. Ez 37:12-14, Romans 8:8-11 and John 11:1-45, the raising of Lazarus

Thanks puzzleannie, that makes sense, since at the bishop’s site they usually list the readings for both the normal Mass and the ones for the scrutinies. For that week they simply did not distinguish between them. Again, thank ye kindly! :tiphat:

Dang, puzzleannie beat me to the punch. Oh well…
