I know that it is a mortal sin for one to recieves communion in the state of mrtal sin. But what if one does recieve communion in a state of mortal sin, what would happen? Would you be eternally damned, or could you just take it to confession and it will be forgieven? Will the priest have to proform some special rite to remove this from your soul?

Dear Friend,

If one receives Holy Communion in the state of mortal sin, one ought to repent and ask forgiveness in the Sacrament of Penance (Confession). That’s it.
