In today’s (June 20th) newspaper, the comic strip B.C. makes strong reference to God and Father’s Day.
So, what is your favorite comic strip or cartoon?

I’ve always liked BC & the Family Circus.

As far as animated cartoons? You can’t beat the Looney Tunes of the 50s & 60s.

Hey, you’re quick…I just got this post up and running! 👍
My favorites are B.C. WIzard of ID and Garfield.

Johnny Hart, who does B.C. is a Christian and not afraid to show his faith in the comic strip. His one for Easter this year was exceptional!

Go with God!

As for cartoons, yes, Looney Tunes are tops! And I also liked Speed Racer…Go Speed Racer Go!

Dilbert

and

Spounge Bob Square Pants - You may be a parent if you know all the lyrics to the Spounge Bob Square Pants theme song.

:rotfl: When my kids were little, the song you knew all the lyrics to was “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?”

Gotta toss in a vote for “Ren & Stimpy,” if only because their creator, John Kricfalusi, shares my Ruthenian heritage!

…on a more “nautical” note, I’ve actually always been a big "Popeye" fan!

The 2 that I read every single day are: Dilbert and For Better or For Worse. I never miss a day. Dilbert, because I could swear that Scott Adams has a bug planted in my former office; and FBoFW because it is so realistic! Lynn Johnstone has such a wonderful way of conveying the realities of everyday life with a sense of humor and love. I also like BC, but I don’t see it much. I have stopped reading the newspaper, so I don’t see many comics anymore. It has always upset me that so many papers refuse to publish BC on Sundays and Holy Days because of their stupid fears that a religious-themed cartoon might offend the proverbial “someone”. 😦

If you look online (a Google Search), I am sure you will find B.C. online. I have SBCYahoo as my Internet Connection and on my personal page, I have my three favorites right on the screen when I log on.

Go wtih God!
Edwin
P.S. I was only limited up to 7 mulitple choices, so I expect ‘Other’ to domnate the poll.

Thanks, Edwin. I use excite.com as my homepage, and I do have a “my comics” section; I’ll check to see if BC is available.
Thanks again, and have a great day!

The ones that I read the most are Baby Blues (a family who started out with one toddler, and now they’re up to three children), and Jump Start.

Oh I like Baby Blues too, but I especially enjoy Foxtrot. I find that strip hilarious!

Shamus:)

I voted “other” since my favorite is and always has been
“The Family Circus”! 🙂

I voted Funky. The teacher in me can relate to the school situations. I also like the fact that the characters age - I like Baby Blues and For Better or Worse for the same reason.

If you work in an office you have to love Dilbert.
I also liked Calvin and Hobbs and Bloom County but sadly they have been retired. 😦

Comics:The 2 best now-defunct ones are: Calvin & Hobbes & The Far Side

After several yrs of not reading the comics at all, my teenage daughter has turned me on to Zits.

Cartoons: Yes, we love SpongeBob! And I love the Simpsons, but I would never let *LITTLE * kids watch it.

9 Chickweed Lane http://www.comics.com/comics/chickweed//images/cast_chickweedlane_Edda.gif (some very funny Catholic school material there)
I think the creaters of Rose and 9 Chick are friends – Juliette is occasionally depicted on the telephone with her friend “Rose” and vice versa.

Big Tophttp://images.ucomics.com/images/bt/subsections/bt_petewink.gif is growing on me as a replacement for great strips of yore: Calvin & Hobbes and Bloom County.

Cartoons: Classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies.Rocky & Bullwinkle. Spongebob Squarepants. And The Fairly Odd Parents.
