Simply, are they all members of the clergy? If not, are they all men?

There are many seminary schools. In general the answer would likely be no to both. Even all male/all female colleges have members of the opposite gender teaching.

Catholic theologians like Jeff Cavins and Peter Kreeft. Lay theologians who often were previously Protestants.

At the seminary where I am doing my permanent diaconate formation we have priests, sisters, brothers, deacons, and lay teachers. All are great and knowledgeable in my opinion.

Thanks to everyone who contributed.
The reason I asked was the following position (my paraphrasing) ignited some controversy recently:
Only men can be in pastoral roles. Therefore, only men can teach theology to those who are training to be pastors and pastors mentoring potential pastors. Generally, that was the case only until recently.

Pastors deal with females and laity for most of their ministry. Part of the reason that males taught is because of the Euro-centric idea that only men should be educated.

No, one of the women in my RCIA team taught at Seminary.

Define recently…

35 years ago, I had women professors in the seminary.

(Sorry—didn’t mean this to be a response to you, Xantippe!)

I wouldn’t know. I would assume since the 60s.
I’m not making this argument. I’m actually against this view.

In some cases, they may not even be all Catholic.
Which is not necessarily bad.

When I was at the seminary studying for the Diaconate, the professor who taught Kione Greek was a Greek Orthodox priest.

I attend a parish church run by a Benedictine Monastery. It offers also a college and seminary. I know the seminary has at least one rabbi and a couple women as professors. All are very qualified to teach the seminary courses they teach.
