The old software (Discourse) used to close threads two weeks after the last post. The new software (Xenforo) does not automatically close threads. We migrated over in January 2024.

I think that was just a spammer trying to get links to their web site. I wonder if Discourse was a little better at preventing these sorts of things.

Emails have now been turned on. This will allow new users to register and people to use the “forgot password” feature. It’s supposed to allow email notifications for new content and private messages, though I don’t think that’s working right now. That’s something I’ll need to investigate.
