I really enjoyed it but I don’t know why. I think it had something to do with the lead actors. Toni Collette (who I normally like) overacted a bit, almost going into Al Pacino territory.
I’m sorry to say, no, not while I was watching it. But the next day I read some articles about it, and learned ‘the big surprise’ which I’m pretty sure I never would have guessed, left to my own devices.
I’m not even sure that knowing what I know now would make the viewing of it more enjoyable, necessarily.
I didn’t like it at all: my comfort is that Italian critics on the net consider it a masterpiece, pure poetry and blah blah blah. If they say so, I am right.
By the way, to understand it, I had to read a review after seeing the film: unimaginable, I would not have guessed in 20 years.
I think you will have no difficulty in finding an explanation in English, as I found it in Italian: after having wasted 2 hours to see the film, 5 additional minutes to understand the meaning can be spent.
Now sorry but I run to review all the “Die Hard” movies to recover the good mood
