“Once Saved Always Saved” or “OSAS” #4 AND “Personal Interpretation of the Bible”.

I guess a lot hinges on what is meant by “personal interpretation.” I was just taking at as someone being able to interpret the Bible for themselves; which for us Catholics I believe is only permissable where the Church gives us room to speculate.

Yeah, I think that is what most people think of when they define personal interpretation. I like your words “where the Church gives us room to speculate”. Most of those outside the Catholic Church would, seems to me, say that the Church sticks to a rigid interpretation of all parts of Scripture and there is no discussion, debate or research allowed. Such is not the case, as we know.

Support for my position comes from a book titlle "Salvation is Forever’ by robert g. gromacki published by regular baptist press

read it , it Biblicly address all catholic objections to OSAS

Then provide the Biblical references, not commentary from someone who has a vested interest in selling a book.

If you talk a Protestant out of OSAS, you might get them into a Church of Christ or another Protestant denomination that does not support it, but you are still a thousand miles away from being Catholic. So I wonder I suppose why it is such a hot topic on CAF these days. Even more so than usual:shrug:

There are a few converts from baptist here in this forum.

And frankly, in my experience here in these forums, it seems that sacramental protestants have a harder time crossing the tiber than non sacramental ones.

Has it occured to anyone that the real problem is that there are as many verses that speak against perseverance of the saints as there are that support it?
But that is the liberal easy way out naturally

actually, that would be CENTURIES away from the Catholic Church since Jesus started the Catholic Church and the test did not appear till hundreds of years later…

For that particular group ( evangelicals, Baptists, not sure who else) that is probably a good thing from their perspective

Of course, there may be quite a few sacramental protestants who make the crossing very easily, they just don’t end up here:shrug:
