Sometimes I wonder why we are told we can’t reprimand the clergy when we know what they are doing or not doing is wrong.

Take the Caritas situation in Boston. It’s been two months, or more, since anything has been heard from Cardinal O’Malley, or the Archdiocese.

The following is an excerpt from an article done by Judie Brown of Life Site News. To read the whole article go to:

Commentary by Judie Brown

According to the Boston Rescuer, Bill Cotter, head of Boston’s Operation Rescue and one of the heroic pro-life leaders of the state of Massachusetts “believes the archdiocese was taken off guard by the Caritas move. ‘But,’ he said, ‘there’s been a terrible loss of credibility for the archdiocese. It must forgo the potential financial gain and refuse this pact with the devil.’”
  • It has now been more than two months since Cardinal O’Malley requested an advisory opinion on the contract from the National Catholic Bioethics Center. On May 14, Fr. Tadeuscz Pacholczyk, [d]irector of [e]ducation for NCBC, stated that, “The NCBC is not able to comment regarding on-going, confidential consultations. Your best source of information would probably be the Archdiocese or perhaps Caritas Christi.” Later, when asked if the opinion had been given to the Archdiocese, another NCBC official told the League “I’m not at liberty to say.”
As we mentioned yesterday, American Life League is well aware of the health-care plans being orchestrated by the Obama administration. We are equally aware of President Barack Obama’s track record of using Catholics to his advantage and their willingness, for whatever reason, to be used. Obama’s relatively short history of appointments of totally pro-abortion Catholics, the Notre Dame scandal and other such events lead us to suspect that if the Archdiocese of Boston remains silent and does not demand immediate dissolution of the “joint venture” agreement, the death knell for genuine Catholic health care will have been sounded.

The evil that has gone unaddressed by Cardinal O’Malley, and persists in the context of unanswered questions and absent policies based on Catholic doctrine is scripted by the devil himself. Of that, there is no doubt.
American Life League cannot be silent while such a dastardly plan moves forward with nary a whimper.

It should be obvious that the Archdiocese of Boston could, either knowingly or unknowingly, become the first Catholic casualty as it falls beneath the Obama nationalized health-care bulldozer. Clearly if the Archdiocese of Boston succumbs to dollars over dogma, the end result could devastate Catholic health care nationwide

How much more “loss of credibility” can the Church withstand?

Not the first time the Boston Archdiocese has turned a blind eye.

I love Boston and the Archdiocese- I wish I still lived there instead of the terra incognita of the Diocese of Raileigh. . . BLAH. . .

I also much prefer Boston Catholic TV to EWTN as they don’t constantly talk about politics and about how the US was great until the scourge of the 60’s made it bad.

Boston is awesome!

This entire matter is quite troubling. If this deal goes through, a Catholic health care system may become culpable in matters directly opposed to Catholic teaching.

This does not bode well for Catholic hospitals, physicians, and healthcare workers in other places.

We can only hope that the Boston archdiocese does not choose “dollars over dogma,” but this bears watching.

Don’t know when you lived there. I hope you are speaking generalities, such as friendly people living there, low prices for real estate etc.,.because the Archdiocese and those in charge of the Church there, really give me a lot of concern.

I have been watching these shenanigans of the Boston archdiocese for over two, or more, months. Don’t you think it is about time a definite statement censoring Caritas Health system and making a final break with the organization appeared? I get an unpleasant feeling this won’t be done. The answer to the problem has been evaded long enough. There are no grey areas, or shouldn’t be, when it come to the absolute teachings of the Church.

well if you are waiting for the ecclesiastical leadership of Boston to be like that of the exalted Lincoln, Nebraska diocese- you are going to be waiting a long time. . . . . . . .

I have not attended Church in Raleigh so I can’t comment on them, but I am willing to bet that they are true to what the Church teaches and that is what has you upset.
Don’t you know that you don’t have to live in Boston to disregard Church teaching ? You can do it perfectly well from your present location. Don’t watch EWTN if what we have professed for the last 2000 years bothers you. Hitch your liberal wagon to Sen. Teddy’s Sleigh to Gehenna,: NO MORE BLAH:thumbsup:

That is a statement that didn’t need to be said, as the apostasy in the Archdioces of Boston, by some, is quite evident. It will take several years and gargantuan effort for Boston to regain status in the eyes of faithful Catholics, for it to begin to come up to the standards of such dioceses as Lincoln, Nebraska, Kansas City Mo. and such clergy as Bishop Martini and Archbishop Chaput.

Gehenna- gosh that’s cold. . . I certainly hope that’s not the case- but I guess I can only pray for God’s mercy upon my many sins. THanks for the heads up though!
