emerods were tumorous growths that went along with the plague that afflicted the people.
 
God commanded to have gold frogs and emerodss made. How would one make a gold emerod?
 
God probably did not tell the Israelites to make the tumors because he needed these golden oddities to create a miracle. Maybe the act of making the golden tumors helped the Hebrews to be reminded of what God had done for them.

Or maybe, as I’ve long suspected, God has a very odd sense of humor.😛
