Hello everyone!
I am in love with this awesome, beautiful girl! She 13 & is pure, modest & super sweet! But they live an hour from where we live(our town has a tridentine mass, so we get a lot of out of towners) The issue is her parents are EXTREMELY overprotective! And im worried if the parents figure out i like her then they will stop going to our church or stop visiting after mass! So is it better to just tell the parents & her outright, or just keep it to myself? Also my parents don’t know i like her! On a side note, im getting crushy hints from her 9 y/o sister (yes you read that right) but i am no where near interested in the 9 y/o, and i dont wanna hurt the little girls feelings, so any advice on that problem is welcome!

TL;DR, is it better to just tell the parents & her i like her outright, or just keep it to myself? And: How do i not hurt the 9 year-olds feelings who seems to have a crush on me?

She is 13. Leave her alone and say nothing unless you want to embarrass yourself and possibly the girl.

I don’t know how old you are, but this isn’t how it’s done. No need to do any talking to her parents or her and making announcements.

You should, as @Cruciferi suggested, talk to your own parents.

We are sincerely sorry to hear of your struggles. However, the CA Forums are unfortunately not set up to provide intensive spiritual counseling. Our best advice is for you to seek out a good priest on the local level who knows you or can get to know you because he’ll be treating you in the most fruitful counseling environment: a three-dimensional one. You may also wish to consider getting other support on the local level from a licensed counselor who is respectful of your Catholic Faith. Regard…

In all honesty, and I am a fellow minor, by the way, I think it would be wisest to wait it out. My family has a policy that neither me nor my siblings should be dating until the age of eighteen. I once liked someone for a long time, but eventually something happened on her part, and I see this as somewhat of a sign that she wasn’t the one for me. You are both still quite young, and a lot can happen over the course of 4-8 years. At the same time, I do strongly advise telling your parents about this, like other posters advised. That’s what I would do in a situation like this one. After all, out of all people, they would know plenty about situations like these (not exactly like this one, but still). Additionally, the Catholic solution to pretty much any problem: Pray. Pray for her family, pray for the discernment of your vocation, and do the same thing day after day after day!

Ok, I will pray about it a lot! Thank you for the advice 👍
