Alot of discussion has been going on around where I live about the use of Terra Cards and fortune tellers… What do Catholics think of these things? Fankly, I can tell they can tell the future, idk what sort of “spirits” are at work, or if there are any at all…

Also, I have some items in my cart on Amazon.com. In this cart, I have: a rosary, The Rosary Handbook, and a pocket NRSV Bible. I was wondering if there was like an official prayerbook for the Catholic Church. Much like how we have an “instruction” book (the Catechism,) and a collection of Scriptures (the Bible,) of course…

Also, if anyone’s read the Rosary Handbook, could you please tell me about it?

Thanks CAF, I know you won’t dissappoint. God Bless. 👍

Hi, Tarot cards are not an accepted practice. They are an occult/superstitious thing. Forget them.

My Prayer Book by Fr F.X.Lasance is a good choice. It has much info on the Rosary as well.

Are they an not “accepted” practice, or an “unacceptable” practice? ^^ I don’t know much about them. If they use spiritual entities, I wont go near them with a 20-foot poll…
Why do you recommend THIS Prayer book? ^

Thank you responding, God bless. 😉

I own a first edition copy of that prayer book. It is simply packed with devotions, prayers, and much more. All orthodox.

For the price, it is simply one of the best deals out there imo.

Well, thank you for the recommendation. 🙂 AND for informing me on the Church’s position on fortune-tellers. Lol.

Maybe I’ll get a Catechism, too. 🙂

Glad to help 🙂

The Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church is a good start. Easy reading.

I’ve never heard of “Terra” cards, so I’m assuming you mean “Tarot”, like other posters. Catholic attitudes towards Tarot cards range from “it’s a narcissistic mind game you play with yourself” to “it’s a gateway for the Devil”.

"Its a gateway for the Devil" is the more accurate description, along with ouija boards and the rest. The fallen angels are only too happy to oblige if some very foolish type asks for help from "spirit guides" or "cosmic energy" or whatever. Theres a price, though:
“‘Would you walk into my parlour!’…”. SNAP!

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you. Deuteronomy 18:10-12
