In The Second Book of Samuel Chapter 22 Verse 7 states:

In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried to my God;
From his temple he heard my voice and my cry reached his ears.

Does His temple refer to God’s heavenly abode?

The literal sense of the Scripture is the Temple in Jerusalem.

The belief was that God heard the prayers that were prayed at the Temple or prayed whenever anyone prayed toward the temple. Read Solomon’s prayer in 1 Kings 8.
